Forever Student

I love learning new things. One of my favorite things about working at Vitality South is the culture of learning that we all actively take part in. We are encouraged to learn independently and provided with the tools to learn and grow our skills, knowledge, and experience. My experiences in school and at Vitality South have given me a new title, A Forever Student/Learner.

What does a Forever Student even mean? It means that I am always willing, able, and trying to learn and grow. I always want to improve myself as a person and my skills as a professional. I always want to be better today than I was yesterday. This perspective and attitude towards life have helped me in every step. I am confident that a behavior built upon learning can help individuals grow past their expectations and help their businesses or workplaces thrive.

How do you develop a culture of learning? How do you personally grow into a Forever Student? As a leader, you start with yourself. Challenge yourself. Try the things you’ve always wanted to try. Step outside your comfort zone. Within the past year, I have attended networking events periodically, which are outside my comfort zone. Now, I have the confidence to tell people about our services and sell our solutions for their business. We grow these learning habits by stepping out, taking chances, and trying new things.

Once you have developed a behavior of learning within yourself, you have the means to encourage it within your team. When your team sees you trying new things and becoming a better leader, they want in on it. Seeing people excited about what they are doing and learning is exciting. This excitement turns into momentum, which then turns into action. This action turns into team members growing and trying new things. This action becomes a new, transformed business team that builds one another up through self and business improvement.

Does your business have a culture of learning? If not, start by stepping out and growing your network. You can find new ways to improve your business by finding ways to improve yourself. Learn, learn, and learn some more. The more you learn and grow, the more you can achieve.

Keep growing,
Dacey
