Am I the only one that feels work stress is just a little heavier than everyday stress? I’ll be honest, I’ve been stressed lately. I’m typically a person that handles stress well. Nothing in particular wrong, the weight of running a business is a lot sometimes. It seems like it should be true that the more employees you have to handle the workload, the less stress the owner will have; but we have a lot of capable and talented employees at Vitality South and from my seat, that doesn’t ring true.

I believe that the stress that I’m feeling is actually the weight of my responsibility. I feel responsible for the livelihoods of my employees. I feel responsible for the success of my customers’ businesses. I feel responsible for the toilet paper staying in inventory for the work bathrooms. I feel responsible for the culture and morale of the office. I am responsible for the P&L of the business and future planning and project management. And all of that adds up to a very heavy load.

This is not a load that I can shrug off or ignore. Although I can have leaders in my company help carry the weight of the load, it’s still mine to carry. If business ownership was easy, everyone would do it, right? So it’s time for me to redouble my training. I’ll build up my endurance.

I’m not writing this for sympathy, it’s not a cry for help, it’s not a pity party. I want other business owners to know – you’re not alone. It is hard sometimes. Even when things are going great.  For me, I’m going to take a vacation, clear my head, strategize, and come back ready to conquer the world. If you’ve been thru this and have great tips, I’d love to hear them! I personally read every message that comes thru the contact form– let me know how you succeed.
