Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock.

Time. Not a single one of us can escape it.

We often are caught saying, “there’s not enough time in the day for ___” – fill in the blank.

As we have been expanding our personal social media efforts here at Vitality South, I (Dacey) have been harassing my co-workers for videos. Almost every time that I ask them to do one, I get the response, “right now??” or “I need more time” or something like that.

I’ve realized… I don’t approach the “scary” videos the same way. I want to get the suckers over with as quickly as I can. But, when it comes to my personal goals, I have come to find that I am just like the team is with the videos. I sit there paralyzed by my fears.

What would it look like IF we had more hours in the day, like we often say we need?

Likely… we would fill our hours with the same things we already are. It is not about the time we have in a day, it is about the things we prioritize in that time each day.

Oof. Mic drop, anyone?

But seriously, where and how you spend your time, is what you value. Time is our most valuable asset and whatever we are giving our time too, well…

People say, “time is money” and then go sit on the couch or drink their nights away. Or they book their calendars so full that they miss out on what they say they deem most important. Or they spend their time tending to everyone else to the point that they have nothing left for themselves or the things they care about.

We run out of time, because we do not prioritize our time. We all have just a short time on this earth together. The most important things in general are people and as individuals our time is what is most valuable. We can make more things, more money. But time, and the time spent with our loved ones, is not something that you can make more of.

If you are giving from an empty cup, because you won’t take care of yourself. Set aside 1 hour a week for self care.

If you are missing out on your kids’ lives, schedule around your kids.

If you want to do something, schedule your time around it.

Give yourself a why. Focus on your why.

When we ask ourselves why we are doing the things we do, it can put a lot into perspective.

Perspective may be what your clock is missing.

Much love,
